Beware of Well-Intentioned Advice from Friends & Family [VIDEO]

Divorce and Family Mediator, Susan Ingram, warns against heeding the advice of non-professional, well-intentioned friends.

It’s only natural that friends and family will volunteer information as to what happened to them, or other people they know, when they got divorced. The problem is that the advice:

    • Is often incorrect and misleading;
    • Can create unrealistic expectations as to what you are “entitled to;” and
    • Can create extra stress and anxiety at a time in your life when you least need it.

The “Greek Chorus” is well-intentioned and looking out for your welfare, but the circumstances of each divorce are very different and the decisions made depend upon the unique facts of your particular case.
